Areas of Professional Study and Interest:
Amanda Peeni was raised in Alaska, has lived in Hawaii three times, lived for
a number of years in New Zealand, and calls herself “a Pacific kid.”
She has a BA in TESOL from Brigham Young University Hawaii, an MA in TESL
from Hawaii Pacific University, and additional university credits in
theater, languages, education, and music from the University of Alaska
Fairbanks. She taught at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and in New
Zealand public schools and community education programs. At BYUH, she
is an EIL Lecturer and is also the EIL curriculum specialist for
Listening/Speaking. She thoroughly enjoys her work with the
university’s students and her colleagues.
In addition, Amanda is the Book Review Editor for the TESL Reporter. She
worked previously as an international editor for the Church’s Ensign
magazine, and she has also contributed articles to the Church News.
