ACCOMMODATION/TRANSPORTATION: There are two hotels within short proximity of Brigham Young University-Hawaii. The rates for individual rooms range from $89 per evening to several hundred dollars! Participants are advised to book their own accommodation as early as possible. Also, please note that the conference-registration fee does not include a discounted rate for individual hotels—rates and room availability tends to fluctuate according to seasonal demand. To make a reservation please contact the hotel directly using one of the links provided below.

  • Laie Inn is located next to the Polynesian Cultural Center and is a five-minute walk to the McKay Auditorium on the BYU-H campus. Participants staying at the Laie Inn will not need additional transportation to and from the conference. However, a rental car is advisable if you or members of your party are interested in visiting other parts of the island. Bus stops are also located near the hotel, and public beach access is literally across the street.
  • Turtle Bay Resort is located in Kahuku, between Laie and Sunset Beach on the North Shore. It is approximately five miles from campus and a fifteen to twenty-minute drive by car. For those who do not wish to rent a car, public bus service runs between Turtle Bay and Laie—see Route 55 information. A shuttle is also offered by BYU-H for participants of the conference. These fees are listed on the conference registration sheet.

DINING: Beyond the restaurants at Turtle Bay, there are several options for dining in Laie, and this includes facilities on campus or at the Laie Shopping Center. Groceries may also be purchased at the Foodland store which is located on the north side of the complex.

  • Laie Shopping Center: Local and national chain restaurants; ten-minute walk from BYU-H or Laie Inn.
  • BYU-H Cafeteria: Buffet style service which caters to students living on-campus (seating is limited).

BANKING/PHARMACY: The Laie Shopping Center also offers a range of services for those visiting Laie. This includes a post office, several banks with automated-teller machines and a pharmacy.
