Call for Papers and Performances

Introduction

The conference has as general themes the performance and analysis of French music. Repertoire is limited to art music of the 19th and 20th-centuries including foreign-born composers who influenced compositional practice over an extended period of time (e.g. Chopin), or composers who relocated to France for a sizeable portion of their careers (e.g. the American composer Noël Lee). Because of the unique location of the host institution, it also explores the influence of Pacific and Asian music(s) on French composers. Ideally, the conference is targeted at musicians with an interest in French music and the possibility of analysis informing performance; likewise, to those who see the potential of performance benefiting analytical understanding.
