Abstracts: submission guidelines

Abstracts of 250 words or less may propose long papers (20 minutes) or lecture recitals (45 minutes). Applicants opting for the lecture-recital format should also submit a recent, unedited recording along with the abstract. The deadline for submission is June 1st, 2007.

Proposals which address one or more of the following areas will be given priority consideration by the organizing committee:

• Papers and/or performances which demonstrate clear relationships between music(s) of Pacific, Asian and French composers
• The analysis of specific works in which the findings have direct relevance to performance
• Lecture-recitals which articulate a musical link between analysis and performance
• The derivation of narrative from analytical understanding
• New approaches to analysis through the study of performance
• Editorial practice which considers performance and analysis together
• Interactions between composer and performer
• Performance practice which takes analysis and recordings into account

Please submit abstracts and recordings via email or post to:

Dr. Scott McCarrey, Brigham Young University-Hawaii, Music Department, 55-220 Kulanui Street, Laie, Hawaii, USA, 96762 (email is preferred: mccarres@byuh.edu)
